Welcome back to the unstable world of Newton's Blob! This is an enhanced version of the original prototype, rebuilt based on feedback to create a deeper, more challenging, and more replayable experience. As a small blob with the incredible power to manipulate physics, your mission is more complex than ever. Can you beat the clock and make it to the portal?

How to Play

Master your unique abilities to navigate a dangerous, randomized world.
A - Move Left
D - Move Right
Spacebar - Flip Gravity (Stick to the ceiling or fall to the floor!)
E - Kinetic Shove (Send crates flying to clear your path)

Project Evolution: What's New?

This version of the game was built to improve upon the original prototype based on instructor feedback. The goal was to increase the challenge, encourage more use of the core gravity-flip mechanic, and add more strategic depth. Here’s what we did:

1. A New Core Objective: Activate the Conduits!

Instead of just racing to the end, the main Exit Portal is now locked. To unlock it, you must explore the newly expanded, more vertical level to find and activate three hidden Power Conduits. This change was made to reward skillful use of the gravity-flip and encourage players to explore every corner of the level.

2. The Pressure of Time

To make the hunt for the conduits more intense, you are now against the clock! A countdown timer pushes you to move quickly and efficiently. But don't despair—hidden throughout the level are Time Crystals. Grabbing one will add a few precious seconds back to your timer, making them a vital strategic resource.

3. The Gauntlet Challenge

Once all three conduits are activated, the path to the portal is clear. But to test your mastery of the gravity-flip, the final stretch is a dangerous "gauntlet" lined with Spike Traps on both the floor and ceiling. You can't just slide on a surface—you have to carefully float between the hazards to reach the goal.

4. A New Challenge Every Time

The core of the game is its replayability. The locations of the Power Conduits, Time Crystals, crates, and laser turrets are all randomized in every single playthrough, ensuring that no two attempts are ever the same.

About This Project

This game is an assignment for my prototyping class at Lindenwood University. The original version of Newton's Blob was built in one week as my fifth prototype in the Godot engine. For week seven, the challenge was to revisit a previous prototype and significantly improve upon it based on instructor feedback and the skills learned throughout the course. This version represents that week of iteration, polish, and expansion.
